An AgentWebRanking search defines what keywords and URLs you wish to monitor for your Web site. It takes few minutes to setup a search rank and once defined, you may save it to a file. You may define as many AgentWebRanking search as you like. Generally, however, one search rank file will be sufficient for each Web site since you can monitor multiple keywords and URLs with a single search rank file.

Steps to create an AgentWebRanking search:

"1. Title"

Select New search from the File Menu. Under "1. Title" box enter a search title name. This name will be printed as the Title on the report that will be generated. When you save the search, the file name will default to the name you enter here.

"Pages to scan" enter the number of pages to scan per search engine.

Some search engines allow only a certain number of pages. We advise you to scan 10 pages in average and 40 pages maximum.

"Full details" select this option if you want to view or to print an AgentWebRanking report with full details.

Remark: If you use a proxy; from the menu bar menu select Help/Options. Enter your proxy connection details.

"2. Keywords"

Under "2. Keywords" box enter a keyword or phrase on separate lines. Enter keyword or phrase your user might type in a search engine in order to find you or your products/services. The number of keywords and URL per search you may enter is limited to 100. You may do two types of keyword searches:

• Single keywords
• Exact phrases, such as: "french wine". This will only find phrases where french and wine are both together in the document.

"3. URLs"

Under "3.URLs" box enter your URL. If you wish to make sure specific pages in your Web site got indexed for each search engine, type in those URLs now. Example: http://www.mysite.com/mypage.htm. Enter URLs on separate lines

If you are looking for the pages:
http://www.mysite.com/folder1/page1.htm
http://www.mysite.com/folder2/page2.htm
http://www.mysite.com/folder3/page3.htm

simply type: http://www.mysite.com. Agentwebranking will look at all the pages listed in the search engines.

"4. Engines"

Under "4. Engines" box select which search engines to monitor.

To monitor all the search engines: From the menu bar select Edit/Select all search engines.

To monitor few search engines: From the "4. Engines" box tick the engines you want to scan.

"5. Start"

Press "5. Start" button to begin your AgentWebRanking search. Depending on the speed of your connection and the number of keywords and engines you selected, it may take a bit to retrieve the data for your reports. You can track what the software is doing from the "status" box.

"My report"

Once the search terminated, the following message will appear on the "status" box: Analyse terminated. Click on ‘My report’ below.

Then just click "My report" button to view the HTML reports at the bottom of your screen.

Notes:

Click "Max" button on the top right of your HTML reports to get a better view of your report.

To print your report: From the menu bar select File/Page set up/Print.

Introduction

"My report" shows:

• How you currently rank for all keywords and engines.
• Which exact URL of your web site are listed.
• What your listing looks like.
• Who ranks above and below you.

Description of some of the terminology you'll find on the reports:

Engine Page:

Pages listed by engines will be displayed here as "View Page". If there is no match for your search nothing will be displayed.

Click on "View Page" link:

• This will link you to the actual search page returned when AgentWebRanking did a query for each keyword and URL. This is useful for verifying or clarifying information AgentWebRanking provides on the reports.
• It also lets you see exactly what the user would see if they did a search, complete with graphics & advertisements.
• You may also use this link to jump over to your "competitor's" pages, which rank above you.

Title:

If the engine returns the full summary description for the page, it will be displayed. Some engines only report whether you are listed or not and nothing more.

 

Position:

It represents the exact position of every match that contains your domain.

Page:

This is the screen page that one of your pages appeared on when doing a keyword search.

Exact URL:

This is the URL of the page found by the engine. Click the URL link to view the page of the web site selected by the engine.

Note: Since a report is an HTML document, we've embedded many links in the report itself to assist you. Make sure you still have an ACTIVE Internet connection in order for many of the links to function properly.

Add Tools to AgentWebRanking main screen:

You must have java enabled to make full use of these tools.

- From the menu select Tools/Online Tools or click "Online Tools Library" button.

- Check the box you want under "Show in links bar" column.

- Click "Update linksBar" button at the bottom.

This tool button is now added to the main screen of AgentWebRanking. Under "Online Tools Library " button, click the tool button.
