Quotes Station Freeware: Online Help

Average cost: The total cost for all shares of an investment divided by the number of shares of that investment.
Change: The per share difference between the preceding day's close and the most recent price.
Equity amount: Amount invested in equity securities. Value of open positions.
Gain on open position: The profit or loss on open position (position not closed). Expressed in US$.
% of gain on open position: The profit or loss on open position expressed as a percentage of its cost.
Gain on close position: The profit or loss on close position expressed in US$.
% of gain on close position: The profit or loss on close position expressed as a percentage of its cost.
Quantity: The number of shares you hold of a given security.
Last: The most recent trading price of one unit of a security.
Total gain: The total profit or loss on a security or portfolio expressed in dollars. Total gain= Gain on open position + Gain on close position
% of total gain: The profit or loss on a security or portfolio expressed as a percentage of its cost.

To get current prices, click the "update" green button. Quotes station connects to Yahoo server and updates the stock prices for all the stocks in the Quotes station database.

One of the most powerful features of Quotes Station is its ability to link instantly with the latest Charts from Yahoo. Quotes station is shipped pre-configured to use the Yahoo web server for charts.
- Open a Ticker file (File/Open/Select a ticker/Open) or a Portfolio file (File/Open/Select a portfolio/Open).
- Click on a stock line to highlight the line.
- Click on one of the following green button from the bottom left window: 5Days, 3M, 1Y, 2Y, 5Y, Max. The graph will appear under the button. Quotes station built-in web browser will pop up with a chart of the selected security, if available.

To track a stock from a ticker or a portfolio file you have to add the stock to your database.
- Open a Ticker or portfolio file
- Press "Add stock " green button.
- If the stock is listed under list of products, select it and press "Add" grey button.
- To find if a stock is listed or not you can use the search function by product name or symbol.
- If the stock is not listed under list of products, press "Create new product " grey button.
If you dont know what is the symbol for a stock press "View available product" grey button. From Yahoo you will find the symbol that you will need.
- Fill the following caracteristics: Product name, Symbol and Fraction view.

To get prices and charts Quotes Station uses data from Yahoo. To find a symbol go to http://biz.yahoo/i/
When you create a new symbol product input the symbol use by Yahoo.
To create a new portfolio:
- To create new Portfolio select File/New/Portfolio.
- Enter your current investment. For instructions, see Add trade to my portfolio.
- Save your new portfolio: select File/Save/fill a name.

Add trade to my portfolio

To add trade to your portfolio, you must first create an account. If you haven't done this yet, see Create a new portfolio.
To add trade to a portfolio:
- Select File/Open/Select a portfolio/Click open.
- Press "Add stock" green button
- Select the symbol from the displayed list. If the symbol is not displayed on the list, click the "Create new product" button. For more information, see Add new stock.
- Press Close.
- Double click the stock line you have created.
- Click on "Add a Trade".
- Enter the information for the buy or sell transaction, then click Apply.
- To Save your transition, select File/Save/Fill a name.
Tip
To short a stock, enter it as a sell transaction, then enter a buy transaction when you close out the short position.

Add, edit or delete portfolio trade

Once you've entered trades, you can add new trades, change the date, type, quantity, price, or commission for existing trades, or delete trades.
To add trades
- Select Portfolio (File/Open/Select a portfolio/Open).
- If more than one stock line is displayed, double-click the line to which you want to edit the investment.
- Click on "Add a Trade".
- Enter the information for the buy transaction, then click Apply.
To edit trades
- Select Portfolio (File/Open/Select a portfolio/Open).
- If more than one stock line is displayed, double-click the line to which you want to edit the investment.
- If more than one trade line is displayed, double-click the line to which you want to edit the trade.
- Enter the information for the buy transaction, then click Apply.
To delete trades
- Select Portfolio (File/Open/Select a portfolio/Open).
- If more than one stock line is displayed, double-click the line to which you want to delete the investment.
- If more than one trade line is displayed, double-click the line to which you want to delete the trade.
- Click on "Delete a Trade".
